Felicita
Acrylic 60x48 This piece was crafted for Dr. John and Mandy Gryzbowski. While talking to John and Mandy we had a feel for what was to be created but not the entire picture until John stated his favorite quote, “Happiness is created, not pursued.” I always look for something that I can put into a piece that allows me to learn from others and this time Happiness was it. I found this building in Minneapolis and added many things that I love such as a Jazz club, the Awning with its logo, and potted plants for a bit of life. I wanted it to be alive and warm. I wanted to be able to imagine actually hanging out there and having a space above to spend time at. The upstairs is actually filled with John's office and Mandy’s grand piano, I wanted the Gryzbowski’s to feel as this really is their space and they have obviously created there own happiness inside this metropolitan area by having a space for their family. Incorporated in the gallery is the painting Shared Dreams, and Golden Elixir. These are the paintings I created before and after this Felicita. Felicita is the way I would desire the buildings to be used if I owned it . This painting to me is a reminder to find something everyday around you to enjoy and most of all enjoy your family.
