“Time To Do The Dishes”
Acrylic 28x24
Crescendo, a fine dinning restaurant in downtown Albert Lea, is the vision of Bob and Patty Tewes. Crescendo is a special place to me because I consider it my personal art gallery. One morning, I told my wife that I should supply Bob and Patty with artwork for their restaurant. This would be a way for me to not only to sell and get recognition, but to get back into painting as a passion and not just a hobby. This would also provide Bob and Patty with original artwork without any cost out of their pocket, a true plus for both of us. My wife said, “What are you waiting for, call him now.” That has been my motto ever since, to act on my dreams.
This personalized piece was commissioned by Bob’s mother as a gift for their home. The picture brings back some of the original heritage by recreating some of the building’s original detail, which was lost due to the poor execution of past remodels and quick fixes. I also gave the facade a new look that would be in keeping with its history. To make it personal in other ways, I created stores for the rest of the family. With a love of quilts, Patty became the owner of her own quilt shop. Their children love to read and draw, so a gallery and bookstore was created with their names as the companies logos. With the family being passionate about music, the store next to Crescendo, which currently is a music store became The Piano Shop. Playing the piano is Bob’s real passion, which he does for his customers on a regular basis.
