Always a part of Albert Lea
“Always a part of Albert Lea”
Watercolor 24x30
Tony and Karen Trow have lived all over parts of Europe and the United States. They recently moved back to their childhood hometown of Albert Lea, Minnesota where they have purchased this cottage on Fountain Lake. With its secluded atmosphere and old world charm, Tony and Karen quickly felt right at home again. While visiting with them, they shared stories about how great it was to grow up in this town, playing in the same neighborhood I currently live in, spending the summer days swimming in the lake. To me “Always a part of Albert Lea” refers to the cottage and the Trows. A rarity in today’s world, this cottage still possesses the charm and character that it had the day it was built, secluded in a perfect setting, not overpowered with unfitting additions or out of character remodels. This home would be difficult to reproduce today. As for the Trows, they are both extremely active in the community through Destination Albert Lea, attending many public meetings writing columns, just being involved. With fond memories of the past they now direct their energy towards the future of their community. This is why Tony and Karen Trow will always be a part of Albert Lea.
